Standards: Interlibrary Services/Borrowing Standards

Placing a Request

You are welcome to place an interlibrary request for a standard not owned by the OSU Library. Keep in mind that most interlibrary requests for standards are not successful due to license agreements between standards vendors and libraries which own the standard. There are some exceptions and there is no penalty for trying.

Check for the availability of the standard using the instructions in this guide, if you have not already done so.

Locate the interlibrary service login or use this, and enter your okey username and password. Under "New Request" on the left side of the page, select the "Standards Document" option. Be sure to include the standard number and the full title of the standard, and the year of publication if known (For example: ISO 2371:1974 - Field balancing equipment -- Description and evaluation.)

If you need assistance, please contact interlibrary services.

How are Standards Labeled?

What does a citation to a standard look like? A standard is identified by a number and title. The number is alpha-numeric, consisting of an acronym that which identifies the standards organization, a number, and possibly a year which identifies the year of adoption. For example: IEEE Std 1801-2009: IEEE Standard for Design and Verification of Low Power Integrated Circuits. 1801 is the number and 2009 is the year of adoption. IEEE is the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers.
