Recent issues of journals are shelved on the east side of the CML.


Q :   Where can I find periodicals in the Curriculum Materials Library?  

A:   Shelved by title, not by call number. Check along the east and north walls.  Bound journals of back issues border the K-12 textbook section.  These include many types of periodicals:

  • Magazines for children
  • Journals for educators and school librarians:
    •    Trade journals
    •    Scholarly journals
    •    Peer-reviewed journals
  • Book review journals

Q :    What INDEXES do I use to find articles about EDUCATION?

A :    Teacher Reference Center (EBSCO) - 280 of the most popular journals for teachers and school administrators

        Professional Development Center (EBSCO) - 520 scholarly journals, including 350 peer-reviewed journals

        ERIC (free edition or EBSCO) - covers preschool to adult education

        General indexes e.g. Academic Search Premier and ProQuest


Q :   How do I search a topic in CHILDREN'S MAGAZINES?

A :    Primary Search (EBSCO) - for elementary age students

        Middle School Search (EBSCO) - for intermediate grade students

        MAS Ultra - School edition (EBSCO) - for high school age students

       Children's Magazine Index (hard copies through 2010)

Q :    How do I print out a copy of an article?

A :   If there is a hardcopy/print copy, use the CML scanner. For electronic editions, check for a PRINT icon on the screen. Ask staff for help.
