Other ETL practices
- Translations do not receive special treatment.
- Dewey numbers should be no longer than 4 digits after the decimal, but should be cut in a logical place, and never end with a zero. If there is a break before 4 digits (eg, 940.54/21421), end at the break (940.54),
- Professional materials (cml,p) are assigned Dewey call numbers in line with Main criteria except for the length ; the label printing program will add "ETL" above the Dewey line. These are the only ETL materials to be coded with "10" in the holdings 852 field.
- Juvenile nonfiction (j) are similarly assigned Dewey call numbers, with the prefix of the letter "j" (eg, j940.54).
- jE, jF, and J books must be coded 80 in the 852 indicators rather than 10.
- All ETL books are barcoded on the page facing the back cover, in the upper right corner.
Book Jackets
All book jackets must be sent to the ETL along with their books.
- If the book jacket is exactly the same as the book cover itself, the jacket is removed and placed into the book, and the label will go on the book.
- If the book jacket varies from the book cover, it is left on the book, and the label will go on the jacket. ETL will add a crystal jacket.
