Caldecott Medal Books
The Caldecott Medal is an award for the illustrator of a distinguished American picture book for children.
The Association for Library Services to Children (ALSC) presents the award each January and usually names some honor books as well. The illustrations must be original work. The winner of the Caldecott Medal is invited to speak to ALSC and his/her remarks are published in the Horn Book Magazine.
The award is named in honor of 19th-century English illustrator Randolph Caldecott.
