OSU's Relax and Read Collection: Book Reviews
Still Me by Jojo Moyes
by Unknown User on 2018-02-26T06:01:00-06:00 | 0 CommentsThis month's book is one I read with grudging anticipation. Trilogies rarely end well for me, if I have managed to stay engaged throughout. This month I chose a romance, because you know, Valentine's day and all. So we return to Louisa Clark and England, right we left her in part two of this trilogy, once again standing betwixt and between what she had been and what she could be. This was a fitting end to her story, but it has none of the heart wrenching, tear your soul out feels as the first book. I almost think that had we never heard from Louisa again after Me Before You, (book 1) it would have been just dandy. Alas, as the next book came out it dulled the pain of the first book, but it also dulled the visceral reactions and acute longing the first book produced. I still like Louisa, but I won't cry for her anymore, and that might be me losing my connection to a character who loved so deeply in that moment, but doesn't hold that feeling through the realities of real life. The first in the trilogy was pure romance, sobs and tragedy, this book was a grinning victory for woman power, and more power to her, I say.
