Using Zotero Online

If you're not able to download Zotero to the computer you're using, you can still add to your online library using the Connector:

  1. Click on the Zotero Connector in your browser to add an item to your library.
  2. When the pop-up window asks Is Zotero Running? choose Enable Saving to Online Library.

Zotero Connector prompt if your desktop library is not open. To use online, choose Enable Saving to Online Library.

 

  1. The Connector will now add the citation and pdf (when available) to your online Zotero library.

  1. To see the citation information and pdf, and to make changes, log into your account at zotero.org.

Cite Using Zotero Online

In-Text Citations:

  1. Select the item(s) you want to cite.
  2. Click on the icon with a quotation mark and several horizontal lines, above your list of saved sources.
    In Zotero Online Library, the button to create an in-text citation is circled. Seventh icon from left above library content. 
  3. In the window that opens, choose your citation style and then click Copy to Clipboard.

  4. You can now paste the in-text citation(s) into your document.
     

Reference List:

  1. Select the item(s) you want to cite.
  2. Click on the icon that looks like books vertically on a shelf, above your list of saved sources.
    In Zotero Online Library, the button to create a reference list is circled. Eighth icon from left above library content. 
  3. In the window that opens, choose your citation style and then click Copy to Clipboard.

  4. You can now paste the references into your document.
