Open Textbooks/Open Educational Resources: Course Marking
Course Marking at OKState
In response to student requests, OSU identifies courses which do not require students to purchase or rent commercial materials. Faculty and instructors can apply to have their courses marked. The course marking workflow is administered by OSU Libraries and OpenOKState in partnership with the OSU Office of the Registrar.

Fall course marking application cycle opens (to mark spring courses) | Beginning the first Friday in August (for spring courses) course marking eligible courses can complete the course marking application. |
Fall course marking application cycle closes (for Spring semester courses, the cycle will close the fourth week of the Fall semester.) | Applications for Spring course marking are reviewed through the fourth week of the Fall semester. OpenOKState submits qualifying applications for Spring course marking to the Office of the Registrar by Week 5 of the Fall Semester. |
Spring course marking application cycle opens (for Fall and Summer courses.) | On the first Friday of December Fall and Summer course marking eligible courses can complete the course marking application. |

Course Marking Application
If you are a faculty member or instructor and would like a course you are teaching added to the list of courses which do not require students to purchase or rent commercial materials, please complete the Individual Course Marking form. If you are a faculty member or instructor and would like to request multiple sections of a course be marked, please complete the Multiple Sections Course Marking form. Information needed to complete the form includes
- Semester course will be eligible for course marking
- Course Subject (Ex: ENGL)
- Course Number (Ex: 1113)
- Instructor Name
- Instructor Title/Rank
- Instructor Email
- Number of students who may enroll in the course
- Types of resources used in the course (Ex: Open/OER Textbook, Library Resources, Instructor Created Resources, Specified Other)
- Title of the resource(s) which will be used in the course (if you are not using a 'book', say library resources or instructor resources)
- Format of resources (Ex: physical copies, links through Canvas, etc.)
- Link to resource(s) which will be used, or uploaded copy of the resource where possible (not necessary for use of multiple library resources or instructor created materials)
- Draft syllabus
