Checkout Information for Devices: Faculty & Staff Checkouts

Every faculty and staff laptop comes in convenient carrying case and contains a laptop, optical mouse, and power cord. All items come with the checkout and should be accounted for upon return.

Faculty and Staff members have the option to check out either a Dell laptop or a MacBook Pro. 

The checkout period for Faculty and Staff devices is 7 days. These items cannot be renewed, but can be swapped out for a new one on the due date.

Warning! Data Loss! When a faculty and staff laptop is turned off or loses power, all material not saved to an external drive or backed up to an online storage cloud will be lost! The Edmon Low Library is not responsible for any data lost due to power loss. As such, the library cannot guarantee the amount of battery charge left in each machine. Power cords are available for checkout from the circulation desk.

Programs can be downloaded on the Dell laptops, but the programs will be deleted when the device is powered off.

Programs cannot be downloaded on the MacBooks.

Each laptop comes with the following programs:

  • Microsoft Office Suite
  • Adobe Acrobat
  • Blender
  • Firefox
  • Chrome
  • Zotero

Rental Procedure

All students and staff must sign a Statement of Responsibility before checking out any devices. Devices from the Edmon Low Library can be checked out for 7 days at a time by faculty and staff members. These laptops cannot be renewed, but can be exchanged for a new one at the end of the 7 days. Laptops must be returned directly to the attendant at the device counter at Circulation.
