Overview

Guest Access
Guests present at the OSU library may access the public computers by requesting the login from the circulation desk. Guest can use the library's databases and electronic resources while using campus computers. Instructions for connecting to the Guest Wi-Fi on campus can be found here

Guests are also free to browse the physical collection in the building and use the public spaces. 

Community Members
Patrons may be granted access to OSU's physical collection by obtaining a courtesy card. To be eligible for a courtesy card, you must be at least 18 years of age and one of the following:

  • Resident of Oklahoma
  • Current member of the Friends of the OSU Library
  • Visiting Scholar

To obtain a courtesy card, please visit the circulation desk of any OSU-Stillwater library and present a valid photo ID. A courtesy card entitles the borrower to 10 library books for 30 days. Items are renewable up to a maximum of one year. The full list of terms and responsibilities can be found on the form here.

A courtesy card does not provide access to library electronic resources off campus, circulating technology, or study room reservations. Desktop computers and public spaces are available for anyone to use.

Alumni Access
A list of electronic databases alumni may access can be found here. Any database with a globe next to the title is available to alumni. Most of OSU's licenses allow only currently enrolled or employed patrons access to electronic databases, however electronic resources are available on the computers in the main library building. Please see the guest access section for more information.

Alumni are not able to check out books, circulating technology, or reserve study rooms. However, the physical book collection is available to browse in the building at any time, and public spaces are available for anyone to use. Alumni may qualify for one of the other services on this page. 

OK Share
As part of the OK Share program, the OSU library will extend library privileges to any faculty, staff, or students from the institutions found on this list. To gain access to OSU's collection, please fill out the application at your home institution and bring the provided card and a valid government issued photo ID with you to the library. The account entitles the borrower to check out 10 library books for 30 days. Items are renewable up to a maximum of one year. An OK-Share card does not provide access to circulating technology or study room reservations. Desktops and public spaces are available for anyone to use.

GWLA 
OSU is a participating member in the Greater Western Library Alliance. As part of this consortium, anyone from a participating institution can apply for a courtesy account with us. This account would entitle the borrower to 10 library books for 30 days. Items are renewable up to a maximum of one year. For the full list of terms and responsibilities, please see the GWLA application here. To apply, please go to the circulation desk, identify yourself as GWLA, and present both a valid government issued photo ID and your university ID. 

A courtesy card provided through the GWLA program does not provide access to circulating technology or study room reservations. Desktops and public spaces are available for anyone to use.

OCLC

OSU is a participating member of the OCLC Reciprocal Borrowing Program. Faculty members from a participating institution may apply for a courtesy account with us. This account would entitle the borrower to 10 library books for 30 days. Items are renewable up to a maximum of one year. For the full list of terms and responsibilities, please see the OCLC application here. To apply, please go to the circulation desk, identify yourself as OCLC, and present both a valid government issued photo ID and your university ID.
