Software and Hardware
The Digital Scholarship Center has the technology you need for research, data management, page layout and publishing, and even writing and compiling computer code.
In addition to the sources linked below for individual titles, the OSU Software Distribution Center licenses software for OSU faculty, students and employees. This service is provided by OSU Information Technology (IT). Visit the OSU Software Distribution Center website.

Image editing and manipulation
- ImageMagickA free, open-source command-line driven software suite, used for editing and manipulating digital images. It can be used to create, edit, compose, or convert bitmap images, and supports a wide range of file formats, including JPEG, PNG, GIF, TIFF, and PDF.
- Adobe Creative CloudOSU faculty and staff can install a variety of Adobe products via Creative Cloud.
- GNU Image Manipulation Program (GIMP)A free and open source cross-platform image editor available for GNU/Linux, macOS, Windows and more operating systems. Provides much of the same functionality as Adobe Photoshop.

Software
- ArcGIS ProFrom Esri, the flagship desktop GIS software. Oklahoma State University provides software access and training to all students and faculty via a site license.
- ArcGIS OnlineFrom Esri, the cloud based online mapping platform, available anywhere via the web.
- ArcGIS StoryMapsFrom Esri, the StoryMaps platform enables compelling narrative construction supported with data and maps.
- QGISThe preeminent free and open sources desktop GIS.

Text Mining and Analysis
- ConstellateAnalyze and visualize millions of journal articles and other documents using Digital Humanities tools. This platform from Ithaka (the producer of JSTOR) is an excellent starting point for exploring Digital Humanities with a low barrier to entry.
- HathiTrustHathiTrust is the platform for performing text analysis on the HathiTrust Digital Library, a collection of millions of volumes of published works of all kinds, including government documents.
- Voyant ToolsAn open-source, web-based application for performing text analysis. A great starting point
- AntConcA freely-available desktop corpus search and concordancing program available for Windows, Mac, and Linux.
- LIWCLinguistic Inquiry and Word Count (LIWC) is a paid tool for text analysis. Relatively affordable academic licenses are available.

- RStudioAn integrated development environment (IDE) for R and Python. It includes a console, syntax-highlighting editor that supports direct code execution, and tools for plotting, history, debugging, and workspace management. RStudio is available in open source and commercial editions and runs on the desktop (Windows, Mac, and Linux).
- OpenRefineA free, open source tool for working with messy data: cleaning it; transforming it from one format into another; and extending it with web services and external data.
