Maps and Spatial Data: WPA Land Ownership Maps

During 1935 and 1936, the Works Progress Administration and the Oklahoma Tax Commission produced approximately 2,400 maps to determine the value of real estate. The maps indicate the owner of all the farmland in each county and each usually represents a full 6 by 6 mile township.

Use the map below to find the map corresponding to your area of interest, either by zooming in or entering a search into the search box . Each white square in the orange grid represents the area covered by one (or more) of the WPA maps. Once you've found the area you want, click the square, then click the small map that pops up.

To view the map in full screen, click the  button or here. Or, if you prefer, you can browse the entire collection at the Oklahoma Digital Maps Collection website.
