A&M Consortium: FOLIO Cataloging Guidance: OCLC Connexion Configuration

Advice on cataloging with the shared A&M Consortium FOLIO Client

OCLC Connexion Configuration

There are three options for configuring Connexion, and you can use any of them.

1.  Create an OCLC Gateway Export (Recommended option.)

First, open the Connexion Client on your computer.  Then choose Tools > Options > Export. When you arrive the Export menu choose Create... > OCLC Gateway Export > OK

You will see this window.

OCLC Gateway Export Menu

Fill out the fields as you see in the picture.  You will need an actual API key and not the words "API key."  You may contact the EBSCO FOLIO team or folio@okstate.email.libanswers.com for more information if you have not been sent the key already. The password field is blank.

2.  Create an export file:

First, open the Connexion Client on your computer.  Then choose Tools > Options > Export. When you arrive the Export menu choose Create... > File > OK

You will see a file explorer window.  Choose a location on your computer and a file name.  When you export a record in OCLC Connexion, it will save the MARC record in a .dat file.  ".dat" files can be imported from your computer into FOLIO.

For in depth information on exporting records from Connexion, see ""Export Bibliographic Records" on OCLC's website.

3. Configure Single Record Import in FOLIO:

First, open FOLIO and select the Settings App.  Then choose Inventory.  Under Inventory, there is a heading "Integrations".  Choose Z39.50 target profiles.  The EBSCO has already completed most of this configuration.  Each institution needs to choose one of its OCLC username/numbers and passwords and add it to their institution profiles.  You will edit this information under Authentication: username/password. (The username will be a 9-digit number).
